What is Holism?

A New A Spirituality:

Across the world today there is a growing movement towards a new spirituality that values the essence of all the world's spiritual traditions, but does not belong to a single faith. Holism is a new approach to spirituality that integrates and transcends the usual polarity of religion versus atheism. It is a way of thinking and understanding that perfectly fits the modern world with its endless changes and flows of new information.

The term "holism" or "holistic" is already used in many everyday situations, such as healthcare, education, government and management. Our world needs to know that there is a spirituality that heals conflict, welcomes diversity and inspires responsible development...

What do we mean by 'Holistic'?

Holism (noun, from the Greek holos): the idea that all life is connected and interdependent; that nothing can be fully understood unless one sees the whole system of which it is a part; that a whole is always more than the sum of its parts.

What do we mean by 'Spiritual'?

By 'spiritual' we simply mean experiencing the wonder and beauty of all existence - and wanting to explore it more fully. At the same time we need to wisely guide our own development and to serve our local and global community. This is spirituality free of religious traps, conflicts and rigid belief. The great mystics of all traditions have always said the more I know, the less I know.
